Job description:
Manage the daily interaction between Customs and business at OR Tambo to ensure timeous resolution of Customs clearance declarations and other legislative requirements. This ensures releases are available to contribute to timeous cargo delivery meeting customer requirements.
Requirements
- Matric/Grade 12
- Suitable qualification in terms of Customs Tariff Classification and associated General rules of interpretation, methods of valuation (GATT), and rules of origin (Customs Affairs course) – advantageous.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of Customs Experience (including Entry drafting would be advantageous).
Key responsibilities of this role:
- Allocation of tasks to staff to ensure daily tasks are processed and completed within the specified time frame.
- High level of communication between client and relevant channel and Customs Call Centre.
- General administrative functions, including scanning of documents and updating notes.
Main activities of this role:
- Visit other government departments and Customs to obtain release of detained goods.
- Destruction of goods – ensure the process is followed and verify activities and costs with the client before finalization.
- Coordination of the following documentation (but not limited to) – DA22, DA68, DA70, DA73 & CEB01, CBCU’s.
- Timeous updating of CargoWise with draw sheets, and RIBs.
- Processing of De-Group RIB’s regularly.
- Submit acquittal report to Customs every week.
- Timeously attend to Customs stops, detentions, queries, and status reports.
- Monitor and maintain vehicle trips and check sheets weekly.
- Attend to storage queries.
- Printing of OGA documents and ensuring release.
- Attend to Customs and OGA stops and queries.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge:
- Understand customs and governmental documentation.
- Good understanding of the Airfreight industry.
Skills:
- Proficiency in CargoWise.
- Must be MS Excel literate at an intermediate level.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to 3rd parties & internal Business Units.
- Must be able to complete tasks accurately and promptly.
- Ability to plan and manage tasks of employees.
- Must be able to meet tight deadlines.
